The Naqshabandi Tariqah Unveiled

The Naqshabandi Tariqah Unveiled
Author: Al-Hidaayah, Colombo Sri Lanka

Verily all Praise is for Allah, we praise Him, seek His aid and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and the evil of our actions. Whomsoever Allah guides then there is none who can misguide him, and whomsoever Allah misguides then there is none who can guide him. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, having no partners and I bear witness that Muhammad (sallAllahu `alaihi wa sallam) is His slave and Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be on the final Prophet Muhammad (sallAllahu `alaihi wa sallam), his family, his companions and all those who follow in their footsteps until the last day. To proceed:

This article is a modest attempt to analyse and expose the teachings and practices of the Tariqat ul Naqshbandi in the light of the Glorious Qur’an and Sunnah, and is done purely in fulfilling our obligation to enjoin the right and forbid the evil. Over the years many deviant movements have arisen in the Muslim world bent on corrupting the teachings of Islaam and thereby mislead the Muslims. One of the most dangerous of the contemporary movements is the group known as the Naqshbandi Tariqat.

Like most deviant groups, they claim that the Muslim masses are ignorant and are therefore in need of a Sheikh (leader) who is supposed to possess the secret knowledge of the unseen. They also claim that all religious texts have an obvious outer meaning known to the masses and a hidden meaning known only to the Sheikh, and that the masses are unable to contact Allah on their own and hence are in need of an intermediary (Sheikh) who will get them close to Allah if given unquestionable and unconditional obedience.

The greatest danger of this group lies in the fact that they, while wearing the cloak of Islam, are striving to destroy it from within, in a vain attempt to extinguish the light of Islam and divert the Muslims from the reality of the religion.

Realizing the grave threat posed by this group, we have undertaken the task of exposing the falsity of this group, seeking only the pleasure of Allah (subhaanahu wa ta`aalaa), we hope that the absurdities, fallacies, and the extremely deviant nature of this group would be clearly exposed to those trapped in its clutches and as a timely warning to those contemplating to join them.

The simple method we have adopted in exposing the group’s deviant beliefs is to quote what Allah (subhaanahu wa ta`aalaa) says in the Qur’an and what His truthful Messenger Muhammad (sallAllahu `alaihi wa sallam) has said in the authentic Ahadith, and then to quote the group’s beliefs or position vis-a-vis the same issue, taken from their own publications printed by ‘Arafat Publishing House’, and where necessary commented upon.

In all firmness to this group we have given the names of the books, along with the page number from where we have taken these quotes. Reference to the Qur’anic Aayaat and authentic Ahadith too have been provided.

Due to lack of space we are compelled to deal with only some of the serious issues of the group’s beliefs and teachings which are directly in conflict with the pure Islamic teachings as revealed in the Glorious Qur’an and authentic Sunnah.

This article is by no means a complete exposition of the entirety of this group’s deviant beliefs and teachings and all Qur’anic Aayaat quoted are only translations of the meanings of the Qur’an.

We pray that this article serves to remove the confusion and ignorance that the people are suffering from regarding this important issue and that it will save all those sincere seekers of truth from falling in to Shirk.

1THE ISLAMIC BELIEF: Allah is the Only Truth

Allah (subhaanahu wa ta`aalaa) says in the Qur’an -

That is because Allah – He is the Truth and it is He who gives life to dead.” (Qur’an, Chapter 22, Verse 6)

THE NAQSHBANDI BELIEF: Aba Yazid al-Bistami is the Truth

On page 15 of the book ‘The Naqshbandi Way’ it reads -

Whoever recites this Ayah even a single time will attain a high rank and a great position, … he will get what the Prophets and saints could not get, and will arrive at the stage of Aba Yazid al-Bistami, the Imam of the order who said: ”I am the Truth (al-Haqq).

The above statement ‘I am the Truth’ – is a clear example of Shirk (association) in the aspect of the Names and Attributes of Allah, since Al-Haqq in the definite form, is one of Allah’s unique attributes and is not shared by any created being or thing unless preceded by the prefix `Abd meaning “Slave of” or “Servant of“. (In fact the Mystic al-Hallaaj was publicly executed as an apostate for daring to openly claim divinity in his infamous pronouncement “Anal-Haqq“- I am the Truth.) Read more…

Ruling On Takfeer Sadaam Hussien and Attributing Martyrdom To Him – Shaykh AbdelAziz al Raajahee

For English Translation click on “CC”

There are many questions in regards to the execution of Sadaam and the issue of Takfeer upon him ?

Well Sadaam used to be upon the Ba’thist partisanship and it is a kaafir partisanship. Then his situation changed when he testified in the two testimonies.

Yet this won’t suffice until he denounces himself from the kaafir Ba’thist party.

Once he denounces himself from the kaafir Baa’ith partisanship then his Islaam will be correct and if he didn’t then his Islaam isn’t correct.

Then we take into account that he did denounce himself and we don’t know. Or we take into account that he didn’t denounce himself, and we will leave this matter to Allaah.

We don’t call him this or that.

And Allaah He is the One that will take command over his situation.

Now, if the christian accepts Islaam right now. The christian that accepts Islaam, will be asked to testify أشهد أن لا إلـﮧ إلاَّ اللـَّـﮧ و أشهد أن مُـכـمَّــدْ رَسُــولُ اللـَّـﮧ and Essa is the slave and Prophet of Allaah.

So that he denounces himself from his previous kaafir religion.

Because his kaafir religion testifies that Essa is the son of Allaah. So his Islaam will not be correct until he denounces himself from his kaafir religion.

He (Sadaam) used to be upon the kaafir Baa’ith party. If he indeed did denounce himself from the kaafir Baa’ith party. Then his Islaam is correct.

As for if he does testify in the two testimonies and he is upon something else besides Islaam, then this will not benefit him.

Lets say if he does testify in the two testimonies and he insults Allaah, wa Rasool Allaah, or he denies the obligation of the Salaah, or he denies one of the Angels, or denies the Resurrection. Then this will not benefit him.

It is a must that he testifies in the two testimonies and he must not commit any actions that are not legislated in Islaam. He also must denounce his previous kaafir religion. Naa’am

The Fatwaa of Shaykh Ibn Baaz states that Sadaam is a kaafir even though if he testified in لا إلـﮧ إلاَّ اللـَّـﮧ, performed Salaah and observed Fasting – because he didn’t denounce himself from the Baa’ith party.

Naa’am correct. This is correct.

If he didn’t denounce himself then this will not benefit him.

Just what has been previously stated, if he testified in the two testimonies of Islaam and he is not upon Islaam, then this will not benefit him.

Then whats the importance of the two testimonies if he insults Allaah and the Rasool ? He then performs Salaah and observes fasting, will this benefit him ?

Some of the brothers ask, some of the Algerian brothers and others ask – some of the people if they become angry they insult Allaah. Wa AlAyatha biAllaah

That’s them asking questions – and they perform Salaah and observe fasting.

This will not benefit them – Wa AlAyatha bi Allaah This isn’t Islaam. We Ask Allaah To Grant Us Peace And Good Health

Refutation of Saddam Hussien – Fatwas of Ibn Baaz

Fatwas of Ibn Baaz Vol. 6 page 122

Q 6: Is it permissible to curse the ruler of Iraq (i.e. Saddam) taking into consideration that some people say as long as he says the two testimonies of Islam, no one should curse him? In addition, is he regarded a disbeliever? What is the opinion of Your Eminence on those who say that Saddam is a disbeliever?

A: He is a disbeliever even if he utters the testimonies of Islam or offers Salah (prayer) and Sawm (fasting) as long as he does not disavow the principles of atheistic Ba`thism and declare his repentance to Allah from them and what they call for.

This is because Ba`thism involves disbelief and aberrance. He is regarded as a disbeliever, unless he declares so.

A similar case to this is that of `Abdullah ibn Ubay, who is regarded as a disbeliever despite that he used to perform Salah with the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said the testimonies of Islam. This did not help him owing to his disbelief and hypocrisy.

Accordingly, those who say the testimony of Islam amongst the advocators of disbelieving doctrines such as Ba`thists, communists and the like while offering Salah, which are done for worldly purposes, these things will not save them from disbelief as they are based on hypocrisy. Allah prepared for the hypocrites a severe torment in the Hereafter as indicated in Allah’s Saying, Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depth (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them.

Saddam claims that he is Muslim and says that he fights in the cause of Allah but this does not avail him or clear him from hypocrisy. He must declare that his repentance is to Allah of what he believed in and proves this with actions, so as to be regarded as a true believer. Allah (Glorified be He) said, Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). Repentance involves both verbal and actual reform. If one of these elements is not fulfilled, a person is not truthful in his repentance. Accordingly, if Saddam is truthful in his claims of Islam, then he must disavow Ba`thism, leave Kuwait, return rights to their owners, declare his repentance of Ba`thism and its principles of disbelief and misguidance. I recommend those Ba`thists to return to Allah in repentance and adopt real Islam with its principles in word and action, outwardly and inwardly. They should be on the straight path of the religion of Allah and believe in Allah, His Messenger, and the Hereafter if they are truthful.

However, pretense and hypocrisy is of no value to Allah or the believers. Allah (may He be Exalted and Glorified) says: Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depth (grade) of the Fire They (think to) deceive Allâh and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allâh has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. And when it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “We are only peace-makers.” Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. And when it is said to them (hypocrites): “Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, Al-Ansâr and Al-Muhajirûn) have believed,” they say: “Shall we believe as the fools have believed?” Verily, they are the fools, but they know not.

This is the situation of Saddam and the like of those who declare Islam hypocritically and deceptively while they affect Muslims with kinds of harm and injustice and adhere to the atheistic Ba`thist belief.

A Warning to the Muslims of Cardiff (Wales) Against the Cult of Omar Bakri

An Advice To The Muslims Of Cardiff:
Beware Of ’Omar Bakri, His Cult And Their Lessons At Channel View

The Importance of Advice

Nooh (may peace and blessings be upon said to his people, as Allaah informs us in His Book:

“I convey unto you the Messages of my Lord and give you sincere advice. And I know from what you know not.” (al-A’raaf: 62)

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Religion is Naseehah (sincerity and sincere, advice).” We said, “To whom?” He said, “To Allaah, His Book, His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and the general people.” [1]

Noble brothers and sisters, we would like to bring to your attention the fact that in the last few months a handful of youth well known for their lack of knowledge by most in South Wales have been inviting supporters of ‘Omar Bakri Muhammad to deliver Islamic lectures. Alharndu lillaah, most of us are familiar With the antics and false doctrine propagated by this group. However, there are a few in Cardiff who may be unfamiliar with this group especially as they try to camouflage their identity by constantly renaming themselves.[2] Those who are organizing these events are even deliberately omitting the names of the speakers from some fliers as they are aware that the Muslims Will flee from any seminar involving individuals like this. If they have nothing to hide, then they Would be frank and clear With their audience and inform them of the full names and credentials of those Whom they are inviting to supposedly teach the religion. The Imam, Muhammed Ibn Sireen (d. 110)[3], a famous student of the Prophet’s companions, said: “This knowledge is religion, so look thoroughly at whomever you take your religion from.” [4] Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to implement this Wonderful advice as they conceal their true identities.

THIS CULT BLINDLY FOLLOWS ‘OMAR BAKRI AND CLAIMS THAT HE IS A SCHOLAR.

For those who have not heard of this man before then his name is ‘Omaar Bakri Muhammed Fustuk. He was one of the figureheads of Hizb-ut-Tabreer in the 90’s before he formed a splinter group known as al-Muhajiroun. Where did Bakri study Islam? The author of the book Hizb at-Tahreer, exposing the claimed in his book Essential Fiqh [5] that he graduated from multiple universities the main ones being Umm al-Quraa in Makkah and Madinah University…” “It is not as if his past is unknown, whilst he was residing in Saudi Arabia he never sought knowledge from any of its universities, rather he Worked for a company called Eastern Electric” [6]

‘Omar Bakri Was challenged in 1997 in the book entitled Hizb-at-Tahreer to produce his certificates from Madinah and Urnm al-Quraa if he is truthful; and till this day he has not been able. He noW claims that he has studied at other places but makes no mention of Umm al-Quraa and adinah. How can anyone rely upon a person that lies like this let alone take him seriously especially when ‘thete was no trait more despicable to the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) than lying’.[7]

Where are ‘Omar Bakri’s recommendations from the scholars? Where are his Ijaazaat (credentials to teach and give fatwa)?

This religion has established guidelines to allow us to recognise true scholars. The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Indeed the Scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets, and indeed the Prophets do not leave behind them the deenaar nor the dirbam (wealth) as inheritance. They leave behind only knowledge. So whosoever acquires it, acquires a huge fortune.”[8]

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon taught and educated his noble companions and entrusted them With this inheritance, the companions taught and educated their successors and the successors educated and taught the following generation. So this is a chain that is unbroken which serves to protect the Muslims from liars and impostors Who attempt to deceive the masses into believing that they are a scholar and a mufti whereas this is not the case.

Imam Malik said:

“I did not issue a verdict (fatwa) until seventy of the people of knowledge bore witness that I was worthy to do so.” He said: “A person should not believe that they are Worthy of anything until they ask those more knowledgeable than themselves.” [9]

Which scholar advises us to take knowledge from this man?

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) foretold of a time When the ignorant will feign knowledge so We should not be surprised.

From Abu Hurayrah Who said that Allaah’s Messenger (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“There will come upon the people years of deceit in which the liar will be believed, the truthful disbelieved, the treacherous will be trusted and the trustworthy held to be treacherous; and the despicable (arRuwaybidah) will speak out. It was said: Who are the despicable ones? He said: The lowly, ignoble man who speaks out about the public affairs.” [10]

‘Omar Bakri and his cult fit this description, as they normally are the first candidates chosen by the media When they Want to demonize Islam and the Muslims. These people represent Islam no more than the BNP represents White Britain, so Why are they given so much attention? The answer is because they will always utter some falsehood which more than likely will give Muslims a bad name.

The Imaam, Muhammed Ibn Siteen (d. 110) said:

“They would not ask about the isnad (chain of narration). However, when the (confusion and tribulations) appeared, they said: Name for us your men. So the narrations of the Ahl us Sunnah (people upon the Sunnah) would be accepted, while those of the Ahl al-Bid ‘ah (people upon Innovation) would be rejected.” [11]

’OMAR BAKRI HAS YET TO REPENT PUBLICLY FOR HIS DENIAL OF THE PUNISHMENT OF THE GRAVE:

The errors of ‘Omar Bakri are too numerous to be elaborated upon in this small leaflet. If the reader Wants examples where this self-proclaimed scholar makes basic mistakes When reciting the Quran, blatantly invents ahadeeth, issues bizarre rulings and totally contradicts some of the fundamental beliefs of Islam then refer to the book High Tabreer.

It suffices us here to point out one of his many gross deviations which itself proves that this man is not a reliable source in matters of the religion. Bakri openly promoted and taught for years the corrupt belief: We trust in the punishment of the grave but We do not believe in it. This is recorded on video s0 Bakri or his followers cannot deny this.[12] The smallest student of knowledge knows that Ahl us Sunnah have unanimously agreed that it is obligatory to believe in the punishment of the grave as established by the texts of the Quraan and the Sunnah. The scholars of the past even documented issue in their books to allow the Commoner to differentiate between Ahl and the deviant sects Who denied this.

We are still Waiting for Bakri to publicly recant from this and his other deviations whether in Writing or on tape and it is not sufficient for him to do this in private or whisper it in the ears of his followers.

“It is a part of the repentance of the one who used to invite (the people) to innovation to clarify that what he called them to was (in reality) falsehood and innovation.” [13]

Ibn al-Qayyim went on to quote the following verse as a proof:

“Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance, Which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they ate the ones cursed by Allaah and cursed by the cursets. Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.” (al-Baqarah: 159-160)

ANJEM CHOUDRY THE SELF APPOINTED JUDGE OF THE SHAREE’AH COURT:

By Allaah, We fear for Anjem in light of the hadeeth Where the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon said:

“There are three types of judges. Two of them are in the hellfire and one in paradise. The man who issues a ruling whilst being ignorant is in the hellfire; the man who knows the truth but issues a verdict in opposition to it is in the hellfire; and the man who knows the truth and issues a verdict in accordance to it is in paradise.” [14]

“Whoever gives a fatwa and is not qualified to do so is a sinful liar…Shaykh al-Islarn Ibn Taymiyyah would severely criticise this type of people (those Who issue fataawa Without knowledge). On one occasion I heard him say: ‘One of these individuals said to me,’ ‘Have you been appointed as an overseer for the issuing of verdicts?’ So I responded: ‘Bakers and cooks have supervisors, and there is no overseer for fatwa![15]

Before a person can be considered a judge, like any important role or responsibility, certain criteria have to be met. Imam ash-Shawkaani menfioned the prerequisites that have to be fulfilled before someone can issue verdicts: Firstly: They have to be familiar with the texts of the Book and the Sunnah. Secondly: They have to be aware of issues where there is a scholarly consensus. Thirdly: They have to know the Arabic language to allow them to explain the Book and the Sunnah. Fourthly: They have to be well versed in the fundamental principles of Fifthly: They have to be familiar with those texts that are abrogating and those that are abrogated. [16]

Anjem does not fulfil any of the above.

We advise our beloved brothers and sisters to continue in their quest for knowledge but to be careful Where they take it from, as the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon said: “From the signs of the hour is that people will seek knowledge from the Asaaghir (those who are ignorant and astray).” Therefore, if We are ever invited to an Islamic lecture or talk We should ask: Who is the speaker and with which Shaykh has he studied? None of us Would dare to visit an under-qualified doctor and We all agree that our religion is more precious than our health.

If you are confused, then supplicate to Allaah with the invocation that the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon would say during the night prayer: “0 Allah, Lord of Jibreel, Mika’eel, lsrafeel, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, Knower of the unseen and what is apparent, You will judge among your slaves about that which they differ. Guide me to the truth in matters of difference, with Your Permission; You guide whomever You will, to the straight path.” [17]

Coming Next Insha Allaah: The deviations of al-Muhajiroun (may Allaah guide them to the truth).

The Decisive Word on Yusuf Al-Qaradaawee – Shaikh Muqbil bin Haadee Al-Waadi’ee

The Decisive Word on Yusuf Al-Qaradaawee
Shaikh Muqbil bin Haadee Al-Waadi’ee
Tuhfat-ul-Mujeeb ‘an As’ilat-il-Haadir wal-Ghareeb(pg. 89-91)
Al-Ibaanah.com

Question:

What is the decisive word on Yusuf Al-Qaradaawee? Is he an innovator or not? And what is your opinion concerning those who say that he is an enemy of Allaah, from the children of the Jews and who give him the nickname “Al-Qaradhee” referring to Banu Quraidha (a Jewish tribe at the time of the Prophet)?

Answer:

Yusuf Al-Qaradaawee, since we came to know of him and heard about him, was a partisan (hizbee) and an innovator.

As for saying that he is an enemy of the Sunnah, then we cannot say that he is an enemy of the Sunnah. Nor can we say that he is from the children of the Jews. We must be fair, as Allaah says:“And do not let your hatred of a people cause you to be unjust. Rather, be just, that is closer to Taqwaa.”[Surah Al-Maa'idah: 8] And He says:“And when you say something, be just.”[Surah Al-An'aam: 152] And He says:“O you who believe, stand out firmly for justice as witnesses to Allaah even though it be against your own selves, or your parents or your kin, be he rich or poor. Allaah is a better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts) lest you avoid justuce. And if you distort your testimony or refuse to give it, then verily Allaah is All-Aware of what you do.”[Surah An-Nisaa: 135]

And the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) commanded Abu Dharr to speak the truth even if it was bitter.

Therefore, I do not advise that his tapes be listened to nor that his lectures be attended nor that his books be read because he is foolish. He has a book in which he makes it permissible to have numerous groups (jamaa’aat), even though the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:“The Hand of Allaah is with the Jama’aah (Group)” and he did not say “with the Jamaa’aat (Groups)!”

And the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:Whoever separates away from obedience (to the Leader) and splits away from the Jamaa’ah (Group)…“ and he did not say “from the Jamaa’aat (Groups)!”

And as occurs in the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Abbaas (radyAllaahu ‘anhu), the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:“Whoever sees something from his Ameer (Leader) which he hates, then let him be patient with it, for indeed the one who splits away from the Jamaa’ah by a handspan and then dies, he does not die except the death of Jaahiliyyah.”[Reported by Al-Bukhaaree] And likewise in the hadeeth of Mu’awiyah, when the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was asked about the saved sect, he responded:“It is the Jamaa’ah.”

Therefore the Muslims are one Group, so it is not permissible for Al-Qaradaawee to strive to split the ranks of the Muslims and to divide them. And he only weakens them by splitting them up. Allaah says:“And hold tightly onto the Rope of Allaah, all of you together, and be not divided.” [Surah Aali 'Imraan: 103] And He says:“Verily those who divide their Religion and become sects, you have no concern with them in the least.” [Surah Al-Ana'aam: 159]

And what is more despicable than this is what has been reported on him in a newspaper that he said: “We do not fight the Jews because of Islaam, but rather we fight them because they have occupied our lands.”

I say: How terrible is this rotten fatwa! And the Lord of Glory says in His Noble Book:“Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings which you enjoy are dearer to you than Allaah and His Messenger, and striving hard and fighting in His Cause, then wait until Allaah brings about His Decision (i.e. torment). And Allaah guides not the people who are sinful evil-doers.”[Surah At-Tawbah: 24]

So the Religion takes precedence over the land and country, but however it is the hizbiyyah (partisanship) that causes one to become deaf and blind. Furthermore, we have written a treatise refuting him which is titled: “Silencing the Howling Dog Yusuf bin ‘Abdillaah Al-Qaradaawee.”[Iskaat-ul-Kalb al-'Aawee]

The Methodology of Yusuf Estes

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

 وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ سَبِيلُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

Allah says: “And so do We explain our verses in detail in order for the path of the criminals to be made manifest.” Al An’am: 55

At Tabari comments on the statement “and so do We explain our verses in detail” meaning; just as we have detailed to you O Muhammad in this particular surah from it’s inception to this passage our proofs and evidence against the pagans, clarifying and distinguishing it for you, in that manner we have detailed for you our evidence for every truth in which the people of falsehood from other faiths deny. Therefore we have clarified it for you in order for you in to make clear it’s truth from falsehood, and it’s soundness from error.” تفسير جامع البيان في تفسير القرآن/ الطبري

Dear reader may Allah reward you with good, the previously mentioned verse defines the role and responsibility of our Messenger sallahu alayhi wa salaam, to convey the truth and guidance in detail so that the various paths to defeat, failure, and humiliation becomes distinct and manifest to the people. This was his sallahu alayhi wa salaam’s role and likewise it is the responsibility of every individual that conforms to his Sunnah. Thus whoever is capable should detail the truth in order for the methodologies of the various groups, sects, and parties be made manifest so that the masses are safeguarded from their evil. In addition this conveyance not only benefit’s the Muslims by protecting them from evil, it also benefit’s the carrier of this evil.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

Allah says: “And so do we explain our verses in detail so that perhaps you may return.” Al A’raf: 174

Imam Ash Shawkani comments on the portion of the verse “so that perhaps they may return” meaning; to the truth and abandon what they’re upon of falsehood.

تفسير فتح القدير/ الشوكاني

In light of that I have gathered some statements of our brother Yusuf Estes may Allah guide him, that illustrate some aspects of his methodology and how it differs severely with the methodology of the salaf. By this it is hoped that the lofty objective stated in the Quran is achieved, to safeguard our brothers and sisters from following these errors that can consequently be harmful to them, and that it be an encouragement for Yusuf Estes to repent before the time comes in which repentance will not be accepted.

From the methodology of Yusuf Estes:

The lack of concern for whom one takes knowledge

Yusuf Estes states: “I’ve sat with sufi scholars, shia scholars. I’ve sat with those of the Ahlis Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah, those so called Sunnis and Sufis and those of all tariqahs even and I took benefit where I could take benefit. But anytime they said something that didn’t line up with what was the main – the main – straight line that the Prophet talked about then that’s the part I said ok guys well that’s when we have to go you know. I can’t do that. But the part where they call to la illaha illa’llah, Muhammad rasullah, establish the salah, pay the zaykah, fast Ramadan, and do Hajj wooo that’s Islam no problem. But I’m just not going to do the other things that we can’t find evidence for….

As is aforementioned we see that the methodology of Yusuf Estes is to sit with any Muslim irregardless of their creed or methodology in order to take benefit where benefit can be sought, per his statement “I took benefit where I could take benefit…” Thus this method in which he has adopted for himself lead him to take knowledge from some of the most astray of individuals and groups as he states “I’ve sat with sufi scholars, shia scholars….” This admission of his is very strange for someone that claims to follow evidence and encourages other to do so as well. Therefore my question dear reader may Allah preserve you, is acquiring knowledge from innovators in accordance with the text? Is it in accordance with the Quran, Sunnah, and methodology of the Salaf?

Allah says: “It is He Who has sent down the Book. In it are verses that are clear, they are the mother of the Book. And they’re others not so clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is deviation they follow that which is not entirely clear. Seeking by that fitna, and seeking by that (false) interpretation. But no one knows its meanings except Allah….” Ali-Imran: 7

Ibn Kathir said while commenting on Allah’s statement “they follow that which is not entirely clear…” meaning they only take from that which is not so clear that which is possible for them to twist out of it’s true meaning their corrupt intent. Then they defer the verse to they’re intent due to the expression’s (multiple) possibilities.

تفسير القرآن الكريم/ ابن كثير

Al Qurtubi states “ The verse encompasses every group whether they be kafir, zindeeq, ignorant, or innovator even though during that time it was directed towards the Christians of Najran. Qatadah said in his explanation of Allah’s statement “they follow that which is not entirely clear…” if they are not the Haruriyyah and the various groups of the Khawarij then I don’t know who they are.” تفسير الجامع لاحكام القرآن/ القرطبي

In addition; we have an authentic narration collected by both Imaam Al Bukhari and Muslim in which the Prophet stated after reciting the previously mentioned verse: “If you see those that follow that which is not entirely clear then they are those whom to which Allah has named (of having deviation) so beware of them!”

Imaam An Nawawi said in his explanation of Sahih Muslim: “Contain in this narration is the warning from intermingling with the people of deviation, innovation, and those that follow the obscure for the purpose of fitna. As for whoever ask about that which is unclear to him seeking guidance and direction, and goes about doing that respectfully, then there is no problem with him. Answering him is compulsory. As for the first type then he is not given an answer. In contrary he is to be rebuke and reprimanded just like Umar ibn Al Khattab reprimanded Sabee ibn Aseel for him having followed that which was unclear.”

After reflecting on what was presented we see the reality of the people of innovation. Furthermore we see the ruling regarding our dealings with them. That and many other proofs point to the absence of association, mixing, and love in the absolute sense for the people of innovation. As a result; hatred is reserved for them in accordance with their opposition to truth and guidance until they abandon that which is with them from corruption, sinfulness, and blatant disregard of the text. Thus how can it be conceived that one who claims to follow evidence would become so negligent that he’d actual sit with those that have polluted hearts in order to take knowledge from them, and then speak about it in a way as if his actions were praiseworthy and commendable. We ask Allah for firmness upon the truth.

Yusuf Estes attempts to justify his position by stating; “But anytime they said something that didn’t line up with what was that main – the main – straight line that the Prophet talked about then that’s the part I said ok guys well that’s when we have to go you know. I can’t do that.” and he said “I’m just not going to do the other things that we can’t find evidence for..”

First; it’s incumbent for us to understand that the ignoramus concerning affairs of deen is incapable of distinguishing truth when mixed with falsehood. The lessons of the innovators are just that truth mixed with falsehood. Thus the person who takes knowledge from the people of confusion and ignorance results in nothing more than remaining confused and ignorant.

Shaykh Muhammad Al Imaam states: “Whenever knowledge is removed due to the passing of scholars and due to the deviation of those who come after them, then (what results from that) the multitude of Muslims implement worship based on ignorance assuming that their understanding of what they hear from Allah’s speech and the speech of the Messenger is sufficient concerning awareness of Islam. Hence they rely on blind following their fathers and others. This is the condition in which As Saadiq Al Masdooq sallahu alayhi wa salaam informed us where he states (in an authentic narration upon the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr): “There will come upon the people a time in which they will gather in the masjid and pray, however there will not be amongst them a believer!” After mentioning the whereabouts of the narration and it’s grading shaykh Al Imaam then states: “The intent is that hypocrisy will be plentiful among those that pray due to ignorance. Thus this repugnant ignorance results from the scarcity of Ahlis Sunnah’s scholars and the abundance of those who are placed forward for teaching or educating but in reality are not qualified.”

Taken from the book: رفع العلم

The methodology of Yusuf Estes with regards to whom he has sat with proves that he is what shaykh Al Imaam was referring, an individual placed forward in order to teach the masses from amongst the Muslims but is clearly not qualified for that. This is evident in his speeches, for instances he states: “hadith means stories, and the stories we receive outside of Quran, Quran also has stories that is also a book having hadith but there from Allah, whereas the stories of Muhammad peace be upon him are also called hadith…” Likewise his confusion is evident in his shameless explanation to the term salafi wherein he states: “When someone says we are salafi, first of all I’m gonna guess he doesn’t know the Arabic language. I’m gonna guess he probably doesn’t know, or he said it so much he forgot what it really means. Salaf means someone who’s dead and gone. These are your predecessors. So a guy standing there telling you I’m dead. And they say salaf salih righteous predecessors, ok I’m a dead righteous guy…” I seek refuge with Allah from such buffoonery.

From the methodology of Yusuf Estes:

Lying in order to achieve his objective

Yusuf Estes states: “The one who came up with this idea (Salafiyyah) was actually a very good scholar, but he was a loner in that he had his own thing going. He didn’t come from a particular following of anything he just come up with a lot of stuff on his own…

[Video: Yusuf Estes-fscs p2 s14: q6. Which Islamic Movement is Salafi? And the video: Who are the Salafis and Wahhabis Yusuf Estes]

This statement is made directly after his explanation to the term Salafi. Therefore the idea that he’s referring to is Salafiyyah. He claims that it’s a new idea or movement supplanted throughout the ranks of the Muslims in recent times by the noble shaykh Muhammad Nasriddin Al Albani. Consequently his claim leads one to believe that the generations of Muslims that came before us did not practice Islam in this way due to this idea being non existent, and that’s due to it originating in recent times at the hands of shaykh Al Albani.

Dear reader may Allah guide you to what He loves and is pleased with, it is incumbent for us to understand the correct intent of the term Salafiyyah. It is to traverse upon the way or methodology of the Prophet’s companions concerning adherence to the Quran and the purified Sunnah. Understanding these textual sources the way they understood them, and actualization of these textual sources the way they actualized them, and shunning every method or way that conflicts with that. This is Islam practiced the way Allah intends, and every Muslim who Allah blessed with wisdom, insight, knowledge and understanding of deen has practiced Islam in this way from the great imams and scholars of Islam.

Imam Al Awzaa’ee said: “Be patient upon the Sunnah, and stop where the people stopped. Say what they said, and refrain from what they refrained. Follow the path of your righteous predecessors (salaf-us -salih) for indeed it will suffice you that which sufficed them.”

[Ash Shareeah by Al Ajuri]

Imam Ahmad said: “The foundations of the Sunnah with us is clinging to that which the messenger of Allah’s companions were upon and to emulate them in that…”

[Usoolus Sunnah of Imam Ahmad]

Imam Al Barbahaari said: “The companions of Muhammad may Allah be merciful to them, they are the basis of the jamaa’ah. They are Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah. So whoever does not take from them has gone astray and innovated. Every innovation is misguidance, and misguidance along with it’s people are in the fire.”

[Sharhus Sunnah]

The statements of the imams and scholars of deen regarding this subject are numerous. Thus the objective of Yusuf Estes is quite clear, it is nothing more than to divert people away from al minhaj as salafi, and he utilizes lies, trickery, and deceit in order to accomplish this. He distorts the intent of the descriptive term salafi which is in reality an ascription to the companions showing that one emulates them in practical application of Islam, yet he fabricates an intent unheard of before him by stating salafi means I’m a dead righteous guy. He continues by brazenly claiming that all of it was invented by shaykh Al Albani and accompanies this lie with defamation of the shaykh. Yusuf states: “he was a loner in that he had his own thing going. He didn’t come from a particular following of anything he just come up with a lot of stuff on his own.”

Eventually he attempts to bring credibility to his deceit by stating: “…because his own students have told me themselves they didn’t endorse it. Muhammad Jibaly, Bin Uthaymin you can go and talk to them in Saudi Arabia yourself..” Yaa Yusuf when did shaykh Uthaymin become a student of shaykh Al Albani?

And how can I ask him anything considering the fact that he passed away over ten years ago?

As if that wasn’t enough he continues by attributing actions to the salafis that which we are free from, and warn against diligently. He states: “..not going in a pointing at people calling them kafir, and labeling all of the leaders and things like that…” Dear reader may Allah rectify our affairs, Allah commands us to be truthful and prohibits us from lying.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ

Allah says: “O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are truthful.” At-Taubah: 119

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا

And He says: “O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak a sadeed word.” Al Ahzab: 70

Imam Ash Shawkani comments on the meaning of sadeed: “A correct and truthful word.”

تفسير فتح القدير/ الشوكاني

The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the last day then speak that which is good or keep quiet…” [Collected by both Al Bukhari and Muslim upon the authority of Abi Huraira]

The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam also said: “ the signs of the hypocrite are three; when he speaks he lies, when he makes a promise he doesn’t fulfill it, and when he is entrusted he betrays (the trust).” [Collected by Muslim upon the authority of Abi Huraira]

Likewise he sallahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Indeed truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man (doesn’t continue to) speak truthfully until he is (or becomes) truthful. Likewise lying leads to sinfulness, and sinfulness leads to the fire. A man (isn’t continuous in) lies until he is written to be a liar with Allah.” [Collected by both Al Bukhari and Muslim upon the authority of Abdullah ibn Masud]

When the inaccuracies of Yusuf Estes are presented to some, the usual response is perhaps he was given incorrect information from those he considered reliable, then regurgitated it without investigation nor verification. My response is, isn’t errors of this nature expected from someone who sat with shia scholars and scholars of all tariqa from the Sufis?

Also if the situation that is assumed is the case, to spread inaccuracies similar to that which is being discussed only harms the integrity of the propagator, and can not be used to defend him. The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam stated: “sufficient for a man to be considered a liar he who narrates everything he hears!” [Collected by Muslim in the intro to his sahih] I seek refuge with Allah from being considered a liar.

From the Methodology of Yusuf Estes:

Urging deviant groups to push forward

Yusuf Estes states: “And what we find today is that many of the Muslims are divided into these various groups. Now some of these groups actually I highly encourage to go forward, but some of the groups they have problems and they even fight amongst themselves…

[Video: Groups Sects in Islam -misconceptions- Yusuf Estes Part 6]

Dear reader, may Allah bless you with good, the division and separation found among the Muslims today results from differing in aspects of the Islamic creed. With all of the varying groups is opposition to Allah’s legislation. As a result this opposition is classified as sinful and corrupt. Some opposition is very extreme and even reaches the boundaries of disbelief and apostasy. Therefore it is not befitting for one who claims to have a yearn to correct and rectify the condition of the Muslims today, to encourage any of these groups and factions to go forward. On the contrary, it is compulsory for him to detail the errors of these groups in order to prevent people from being deceived unknowingly. Likewise it’s upon him to direct the people to the truth, to aid it and assist those who strive to establish it.

The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Indeed the people of the book before you split into 72 groups upon desires and indeed this nation will separate into 73 groups upon desire. All of them in the fire except one and it is the jamaa’ah.” [Collected by Abu Dawud, Ahmad, Ibn Abi Asim in kitabus Sunnah and others]

Likewise he sallahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Whoever from among you lives after me will see an abundant of differing. Thus upon you is my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided successors after me. Cling to and bite onto it with your molar teeth. Beware of novelties, for every novelty is a bidah (innovation), and every innovation is misguidance.” [Collected by Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and others]

These two narrations point to the threat against the safety and well being of the individual in this life and the next that associates with any of these groups. Shamsul Haqq Al Atheem Abaadi states in his explanation to sunan Abi Dawud “Al Jamaa’ah, they’re the adherents of the Quran, hadith, fiqh, and knowledge. They assemble upon conformity to the narratives of the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam in every circumstances. They don’t invent (matters into deen) by way of distortion, and alteration nor do they change (the deen) by way of corrupt opinions.”

These are some observations with regards to the methodology of Yusuf Estes that clearly illustrate his differing with the methodology of the salaf. I ask Allah to make Yusuf Estes successful in repenting from these errors and to recognize his limitations in order to not transgress them, wa billahit tawfeeq.

Shaikh Al-Albaani on Shaikh Rabee’s Book on Sayyid Qutb’s Mistakes

by The Albaani Blog

Shaikh al-Albaani said about Shaikh Rabee’s book in which he explains the mistakes of Sayyid Qutb,

“Everything that you have refuted Sayyid Qutb with is true and correct, and from that it will become clear to every Muslim reader who has some Islamic heritage that Sayyid Qutb was not acquainted with the fundamentals and subsidiary issues of Islaam.   So may Allaah reward you with the best of rewards, O brother Rabee, for fulfilling the obligation of clarifying and uncovering his ignorance and his deviation from Islaam.”

Protecting the Innovator is Betrayal Against the Muslims – Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan

Protecting the Innovator is Betrayal Against the Muslims

Question:

The questioner says: Is the absence of refuting the people of innovation, and concealing their falsehood, and defending them, considered as deception against the Muslims?

Shaykh Fawzan:

This is the greatest form of deception against the Muslims. Remaining silent concerning the people of innovation and the absence of clarifying their innovation, this is deception against the Muslims. And if in addition to this, they praise and exalt them, then this is more severe and a greater evil; and with Allah refuge is sought. Thus it is obligatory upon those who have knowledge to clarify the innovations and newly invented matters. And they must prohibit, and warn against the innovation and not remain silent. Remaining silent is considered concealing the truth.

Verily those who conceal the clear (signs) We have sent down, and the guidance, after we have made it clear for the people in the Book, on them shall be Allah’s curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse.

Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the truth): to them I turn; for I am Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

(Soorah Al Baqarah 2:159-160)

It is not permissible for the Muslim who possesses knowledge to remain silent concerning innovation and deviance without clarifying it for the people. This is because if he remains silent the people will use him as an argument, saying: if this was impermissible or prohibited then the scholar so and so would not have remained silent about it while he sees it.

Criticizing the innovator divides the Muslim Ummah
Answer by Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan

Video Uploaded by on 15 Mar 2012

الإنكار على اهل البدع يفرق الأمة !!؟؟

Question:

Oh noble Shaykh may Allah give you success. Is it correct what some people say, that criticizing the people of innovation such as the sufis and other than them is from the reasons that separates the people and divides the Muslim Ummah?

Shaykh Fawzan:

Yes! We want to separate from the innovator and the pagans and the grave worshippers. We do not want them to unite with us. No one will gather with us except for the people of Tawheed; this is what we want. This is the intentional division. Allah made a separation between the believers and the disbelievers.

أَفَمَنْ كَانَ مُؤْمِنًا كَمَنْ كَانَ فَاسِقًا لَا يَسْتَوُونَ

Is then he who believes like the one who is rebellious and wicked? Not equal are they. (As Sajdah 32:18)

Shall We treat those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, the same as those who do mischief on earth? Shall We treat those who guard against evil, the same as the wicked? (Sad 38:28)

We intend this. We intended that those who do not accept the truth separate from us and we disassociate from them a clear disassociation.
